Copywriter, Cuddledown
Copywriter
Regular: Full time, salary position
Reports to: Marketing Director
General Responsibilities:
The Cuddledown Copywriter is responsible for the development and implementation of all Cuddledown catalog copy, headlines, and cover messaging for five seasonal catalogs per year, as well as several wholesale and hospitality catalogs. Also responsible for repurposing consumer catalog copy for the Cuddledown website with the purpose of search engine optimization and expanding information and content available to consumers. Additionally, but less frequently, develop copy for retail promotions, and write editorial and press releases to support Cuddledown’s consumer and wholesale/hospitality divisions. Some new product copy and content will be required for Cuddledown’s sister website, Maggie’s Bedding Warehouse.
Specific Responsibilities:
Direct/Catalog Marketing
Act as the primary liaison with Product Development to obtain all catalog copy specs
Write all catalog copy in accordance to the copy style guide, maintaining the branded voice of Cuddledown
Maintain and update the Cuddledown catalog copy style guide as needed
Assist ECommerce Team with maintenance of web copy style guide as needed
Work with Creative Team to understand catalog production schedules and adhere to copy writing and editing deadlines
Proofread all marketing materials generated for customers to ensure consistency of style guide rules and voice. Materials include: copy for catalogs, websites, retail store ads, wholesale materials, packaging materials, etc.
Online Marketing
Work with Marketing Director and Ecommerce Manager to develop valuable website content including extensions to product catalog copy, library content, product and service page content, and newsworthy items that build credibility and complement the Cuddledown brand, and Maggie’s Bedding Warehouse – all optimized for SEO purposes.
Maintain and update Maggie’s Bedding Warehouse copy style guide as needed.
Work with Ecommerce Manager and Web Team to develop concepts and content and write all Emails and newsletters.
Develop additional copy for alternative media and social marketing efforts including Cuddledown’s blog.
Wholesale/Hospitality
Write all Wholesale and Hospitality catalog copy, maintaining the branded voice of Cuddledown
Work with the Marketing Director and Wholesale/Hospitality Manager to create editorial content and press releases, as needed, for national media exposure.
Contribute to general marketing projects as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- 4-year colleg degree, preferably in English, Journalism, or Marketing Communications related field
- Must have 2- 4 years of marketing related writing experience: preferably with catalog copy writing experience encompassing both offline and online media
- Must be an excellent written and verbal communicator and able to work with a fast pace
- Must have desire, drive, and willingness to tackle initiatives consistent with corporate objectives
- Must be goal-oriented and able to multi-task
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines
- Excellent proofreading skills
- Consumer brand experience and exposure to marketing strategy
- Understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) fundamentals and online marketing strategies
- Proficiency with PC and Microsoft Office programs
