The primary functions of this position are:

1)  Manage the overall Orvis US Retail direct marketing program:

  • Budget responsibility for planning circulation, forecasting demand, and implementing/ analyzing approx 8 major event mailings.
  • Grow retail buyer file.
  • Increase customer capture by location.
  • Plan, forecast,  implement, and analyze new store opening events

2)  Manage the US Best Customer marketing initiative:

  • Budget responsibility for creating, forecasting, executing, and analyzing best customer retention and growth initiatives across Retail, Catalog, and E-mail channels.

The secondary function of this position is to:

Learn all aspects of US and UK catalog procedures, to provide operational support (set-up, implementation, analysis, reporting, and planning) for all US (105 events annually) and UK (42 events annually) Catalog drops.  The goal is to be proficient in all areas of current circulation management.

Company Interfaces:

The position reports to the Director of Database Marketing
This is an individual contributor, with no direct reports.
The position interfaces with Direct Marketing department personnel, IT, Advertising, Inventory Management, Finance, and external vendors.

Key Performance Measurements:

1) Financial – grow sales associated with Retail Direct mailers by 10% in 2010.
2) Quality – grow best customer file by 10% in 2010.

Additional General Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the Marketing Managers, Acquisition Manager, and vendors to organize and execute elements of the circulation plans in an efficient and effective manner while adhering to established mailing schedules.
  2. Conduct ad hoc analyses to determine the productivity of various mailing strategies.
  3. Maintain and report on the quality of Orvis housefile data.
  4. Maintain overall cost database and work with Accounting to reconcile discrepancies. 
  5. Develop appropriate reports to track catalog & mail piece delivery trends.
  6. Develop and maintain catalog insertion and request programs.
  7. Manage USPS outgoing postage account for all Catalog/Direct Activity
  8. Assist in data loads & spreadsheet maintenance activity (DSS set up, Circulation super sheet, key code upload, etc)

Qualifications Required:

This position requires excellent time-management and organization skills. An advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is necessary.  The ability to communicate clearly with internal and external contacts is essential. The associate should have several years’ experience in an analytical business environment.  College degree preferred.
