Marketing Circulation Manager – Men’s/Fishing/Hunting

The Marketing Circulation Manager is responsible for the analysis, development, and implementation of circulation plans for the Orvis Mens, Fish, and Hunt Catalogs. The position involves analysis of all programs, promotions and testing scenarios, coordination of merge/purge activities, working with print vendors on postpress operations, and research and development of customer retention programs.
Company Interfaces:
The position reports to the Director of Database Marketing.
This is an individual contributor, with no direct reports.
The position interfaces with the executive Branch, IT Database Managers, Merchandise Managers, IS, Orvis Retail, Customer Modeling Team, and outside vendors.
Key Performance Measurements:
The position will be evaluated on the performance of the position responsibilities and on the financial performance of the assigned catalogs (based on standards and goals established annually).
The current standards of performance measurement are:
- Catalog plans meet or exceed established profit goals.
- Actual sales and costs within acceptable variances from plan.
- Catalog Analysis documents prepared to process standards and on schedule.
General Responsibilities:
- Analyze, develop, and implement circulation plans for each category and the Retail channel. Work with Business Analyst on construction and use of predictive mailing models; segment house file and create mail plans; project sales and contribution; integrate acquisition plans per Acquisition Manager; develop catalog Program.
- Communicate bindery instructions to printing vendors and ensure proper execution; provide pre and post merge instructions to service bureaus; identify house activation strategies with data vendors and Business Analyst; keep vendor costs within budget.
- Prepare documentation for Catalog Analysis and Plan meetings; work with Marketing Analyst and Acquisition Manager to optimize inquiry programs; other tasks as appropriate.
Qualifications Required:
This position requires excellent skills in forecasting, organization, management, and financial analysis. Working knowledge of statistical analysis concepts and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel applications is preferred. Previous experience with Unica Affinium Campaign and Business Objects is a plus. The associate should have several years’ experience in an analytical business environment, and be well versed in formal presentation tactics. 5+ years Circulation experience in a catalog environment is required.
